Ashley Kunsa

not daybreak but a sky asking
directions to the mini mart

not cloud cover but the calculus
of crust and bone over black

not a bluff of brambles but a man veined
by hollow indecision

not larks but beads sewn into
the forlorn patchwork of morning

not the sea but a veil, a memory
limping, translucent, to the edge
